Why use a class structure to plan?

Do you find freedom or restriction in the idea of following a structure to plan your classes? For me, having training in a methodology that gave a set sequence as our base for learning, I believe many teachers could benefit from the loose structure provided in breaking a class into different sections.

This is the basis for our yoga class planner! Looking at the arc of a class, we have broken down the major sections of a vinyasa yoga experience into a simple format you can follow.

The beauty of this structure is that it helps to create the right flow of your student’s experience: both physical and energetic. Yet, it’s loose enough that you can use what you need, skip what you don’t or expand certain sections to better mirror the class you are trying to create.

For both the new teacher and the most experienced, our class planning structure can help you refresh how you teach. From a mindful integration and grounding to set the tone up through an igninting peak (or multiple peaks) all the way to the wind down into savasana… using a strucutured format to plan your classes can help you become a better teacher or refresh the way you’re currently teaching.

Take some of the stress and guess work out of class planning! Have notes, sketches and brainstorming to refer back to. This little workbook will be a game changer in your yoga teaching!
